CELEBRATING INDEPENDENCE DAY WITH A DIFFERENCE
-THE SALWANIAN WAY-
Salwan Public School organized Samman Diwas to honour the brave soldiers of the Indian Army. This year, the school invited the jawans of 219 Field Regiment and 299 Med Regiment. The function was blessed by the presence of Lt. Gen. A.K. Lamba, AVSM, VSM, DG Ceremonial as the Chief Guest. The school also felicitated the ‘Veer Naaris’- widows of martyrs, along with decorated soldiers.
The school was also privileged to have the presence of Mrs. Tripta Thapar and Col. V.N. Thapar, proud parents of Kargil Martyr, Capt. Vijyant Thapar, Vir Chakra awardee and other members of the Managing Committee. In his inspiring speech, Lt. Gen. Anil Kumar Lamba, AVSM, VSM, DG Ceremonial asked the students to join the Indian Army. He also emphasized on the good value system ingrained in the school philosophy. He asked them never to lose hope and loose heart if they do not succeed in life.
Shri Harpal Singh, Chairman, Salwan Public School applauded the efforts of the Jawans and extorted the students to join the Indian Army. The highlight of the programme was the Inter school Patriotic Song Competition ‘Swaranjali’. Arvind of Class X was crowned the ‘Sursartaj’ and Harjot of Class VII was crowned the ‘Swaranjali’. Acclaimed Thumri singer, Dr. Kumud Diwan and renowned Sufi singer, Zila Khan judged the participating students.
