Dear Parent,

For the Board going classes testing becomes very important as it sets well-defined goals for students to achieve.  You would kindly appreciate that at this stage revision and re-revision determines the good performance of your ward.  2nd Pre-Board would be conducted on the same pattern as the Board Examination.  Papers would be set by external Examiners in order to give the students a feel of the Board Examination.  The whole syllabus would be covered in the 2nd Pre-board unlike the 1st Pre-board where selected chapters were taken up for testing.

Parents to kindly note that students who do not take the Pre-Board Examination will not be issued Admit Cards.  Moreover, we would also expect all students to be regular in attending school till 20th December, 2011, as courses have to be completed.  Thus, regularity is crucial for a high score in the Boards.

We do expect complete cooperation from all parents regarding attendance before the 2nd Pre-board.  Absenteeism will entitle a child to a fine of Rs.100/- per day.  Clearance for issuing of Admit Cards would only be given when all dues are cleared which include absenteeism fine.  No request regarding exemption from absenteeism fine will be entertained.  Decision of the school regarding absenteeism fine would be final and binding.

“SAMMAN DIWAS- 2011”

“PEOPLE SLEEP PEACEFULLY IN THEIR BEDS AT NIGHT ONLY BECAUSE TOUGH MEN GUARD THEIR BORDERS AND FACE VIOLENCE ON THEIR BEHALF.”

Dear Parents,

We, at Salwan, salute the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who stand guard so that we may sleep in peace. Their supreme sacrifices, both in times of war and peace, are really close to our hearts.  It is our endeavour to instill in our students pride and deep patriotism for their Motherland as well as gratitude for those who fight with valour and do not hesitate to even lay down their lives, for the integrity, sovereignty and freedom of our country.

Therefore, Salwanians, wish to applaud the services of the true sons of our soil on the occasion of ‘Samman Diwas’ on Saturday 20th Aug. 2011 at 8.30 a.m. in the school grounds.  We will be blessed by the presence of Lt. Gen. Ramesh Halgali, SM, DGMT, who will preside over the function as the Chief Guest.

This year’s special invitees are the Jawans from ¾ Gorkha Regiment.   We would also be felicitating decorated soldiers and the ‘Veer Naaris’- widows of martyrs.

The cultural program will be preceded by the inauguration of the Blood Donation Camp. We solicit your good wishes on this very special day for the Salwanians and your distinguished presence.  We also invite you to donate blood for the armed forces on Samman Diwas- it is the least which we, as civilians can do for these brave men in uniform.

Jai Jawan!

Yours truly,

(Vandana Puri)

Principal

NOTE: The school will be off for Classes I to III.  Students can come with their parents to attend the ‘Samman Diwas’ on the 20th of Aug. 2011.

Dear Parent,

·    Like every year, this year also we are organizing a Blood Donation Camp on Saturday, 20th August, 2011. The Camp has always been a great success with many parents coming forward for donating blood. However, this year we are confident that the number of donors would increase;  if this happens, it would be a matter of great pride for Salwan Public School, Rajinder Nagar to approach the Army Transfusion Centre to depute some more personnels for the camp.  In case you are willing to be a part of this noble cause could we request you to register your name at the Reception of Salwan Montessori School, Rajinder Nagar on Saturday, 30th July, 2011.

·    We need to make our children learn the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in  our day to day  life, hence , let them get into the habit of using a hand sanitizer which they should carry with them everyday. This would protect them against diseases contacted through touch.

·    Parent Teacher Meeting for all classes is scheduled on Saturday, 30th July, 2011 from 9.00 a.m. to 12  Noon.

Dear Parent,

India is a country of diverse languages and culture,  we as Indians, have every reason to feel proud of the same; however pride in our own culture and country is gradually diminishing due to the impact of the West.  As Education is a strong tool for bringing about a change in the society, we feel, we need to promote our regional languages so that our children feel proud of our rich heritage and culture- the same is also important for National Integration.

Mahatma Gandhi rightly said “Be the Change, you want to see in others.”, hence it is proposed to introduce Punjabi/ Urdu in place of French/German.  We would like to have your opinion regarding the same.  Kindly choose one of the options a) & b)

a)      Discontinue French/German and introduce Urdu/Punjabi, in place of the same, status quo to be maintained for Sanskrit.

b)      Continue with French/ German along with Sanskrit and in addition introduce one regional language at Class VI level.

Kindly put a tick mark against your option.  Your inputs are invaluable for making important policy decisions.

Dear Parent

As you are aware that winter is approaching, it becomes necessary to take appropriate steps to face the changing weather. It is the right time that your ward could start coming to school in full sleeves shirt. He/she may also wear the prescribed sleeve less pullover. However, any jacket or un-prescribed pullover will not be allowed in any case. Further, it is desired that the winter-uniform be kept ready the use of which may become necessary and compulsory w.e.f. 8th of  November.

It is also requested to kindly ensure that your ward comes to school in and only in the prescribed shoes. In case of default, he/she may not be allowed to sit in the class.

Kindly note that some students reach school as late as 7.45 a.m. while the school starts at 7.15 a.m. This way, a sense of discipline cannot be introduced among children. So kindly ensure that your ward reaches the school not later than 7.15 a.m., failing which entry may not be given.

Dear Parent

For the Board going classes testing becomes very important as it sets well-defined goals for the students to achieve.  You would kindly appreciate that at this stage revision and re-revision becomes important for the good performance of your ward.  Since the 1st Pre-Board will commence from 18th  Nov. 2010, it would be advisable that your ward starts revising in a systematic manner from day one itself.  I emphasize on planning and time management because, along with the revision of the course already covered, your ward will also have to cope up with his/her regular school studies.  1st Pre-board Exam. will be conducted from selected chapters.  2nd Pre-board will be conducted from 27th December, 2010 and will be on the same pattern as the Board Examination.

Dear Parent

I am sure you are aware of the fact that last year SIMOVA Health Management Programme was introduced in the primary classes of the school and for each child a comprehensive medical examination was conducted and made available online. The programme envisages a complete medical record of the child during his/her term in school and can continue even after he/she leaves the school, should you so desire, on payment to the agency. The programme also empowers the parents to fill in the data related to his/her child on their own. As a matter of fact even x-rays, Blood reports can be stored/compiled for future reference. In short, we usually tend to lose the hardcopies of prescriptions; medical reports etc. but this program gives us the benefit of saving/storing our records for future reference. Moreover, it is an ICT based system which is secure with each parent getting a unique login ID and Password.

Last year, it was on an experimental basis and payment for the same was done by the school, however; since it is an ongoing programme, entailing a recurring expenditure, it can continue only if parents feel it is of utility and are ready to bear the additional cost. The expected cost per child for this programme may come to Rs.750/- per annum and is subject to increase/decrease.

Since it has financial implications, we would like to get your opinion on the same before we decide on the continuation of the said programme for the whole school.

I would appreciate if you could fill up the slip given below and return the same through your ward, the next day.

With regards,

Yours truly,

(Vandana Puri)

Dear Parent

• Parents are requested to note that the timings to meet the Principal are between 9 & 10 a.m. A proper appointment should be taken before meeting the Principal; however, in case of emergency the parent could meet the Principal by informing the Receptionist and explaining to her the urgency of the matter. Parents can meet the teachers only after prior appointment, on a regular working day, since the teachers are taking regular classes. It is important that parents adhere to the given time as teachers can be available only during their free period.

• All parents have been issued Identity Cards thus; entry into school is permitted only after I.D. Card is shown to the security guard.

• No student is permitted to leave the school without a gate pass issued at the reception; moreover, a proper application should be sent to the Principal regarding permission for the student to leave school. It is advisable for the parents to come themselve to the school to pick up their ward/s rather than the child going back home on his own even if the student is from a senior class.

• Parents should not send drivers, relatives to pick up their wards as we have the record of parents or the persons to whom a supplementary card has been issued. In case a parent wants to have a supplementary card issued he/she can approach the Accounts Deptt. for the same.

• In case of absenteeism the parents are requested to send an application to the class teacher and ensure regular attendance of their wards. According to the new CCE Scheme maximum 5 marks are exclusively allotted for regularity in attendance, which are added to the scholastic achievement of the child.

• Parents are requested to ensure that their ward is punctual in reporting to school and comes in proper uniform, neatly dressed up. A child coming to school unkempt will be sent back home.

• A student who comes late the 3rd time in a month will be sent back home after informing the parents.

• It has become a practice with some parents to give lunch boxes of their wards at the reception/security guard the same should be avoided

Kindly note students are not permitted to:
a) Bring mobile phones to school
b) Wear jewelry
c) Come with spiked/long hair
d) Painted nails
e) Mehndi

All the above measures are for the safety and holistic development of your child and we, the parents and school have to work together for the same. Without your cooperation we cannot succeed in our objectives.

Looking forward to your support

SPS/ 263/2010/                                                             Sep 20, 2010

Dear Parent,

Apropos  the news item regarding the three teenagers being drugged and gang raped by a cab driver along with his accomplices.

Do we know our children?
Ø                       Do we know who their friends are?
Ø                       Do we know whom they meet after school?
Ø                       Do we know when and why they are in stress?

Perhaps, we have too much on our platter and are letting our bonding and companionship with children drift into wilderness or their own world, with a fear of not traversing into their life and life style.

The incident is an eye opener and deeply concerns all of us, as it reveals how ignorant we are about what our children are going through. The News has shocked and stunned us, though the victims were not from our School, however, it could be us or any other school tomorrow. The above incident is a warning for all parents to be more responsible in choosing the mode of transport to be used for picking and dropping of their wards.

Despite the school offering safe transportation and repeated advice, some parents still choose to use the private vans facility, with little knowledge about the antecedents of the Driver.  How can we compromise with the safety of our children only because of our own convenience?   Kindly note that the school has no control over the private transport arrangements made by parents but is definitely accountable for the buses run by the school, be they school owned or outsourced.

You are once more requested to dis-continue the use of cabs as a means of transport for your children and switch over either to the buses run by the school/ organise car pools or personally drop and pick up your wards.  If no action is taken the school may be constrained to detain your ward at the Reception and handover your ward only when you or a responsible person authorized by you in writing with a proper Identity Card, issued by the school, comes to pick up him/her.

To avoid any unpleasantness and in the interest of your ward, you are requested to comply with the above advice.

Yours truly,

Dear Parent,

1. HIKE IN TRANSPORT FEE
During the last two years there has been a phenomenal hike in petrol and diesel prices. With effect from June, 2010 the price of CNG was hiked from ` 18.90 per kg. to ` 27.50 per kg. i.e. 26%. This has adversely affected budget planning, which is under taken each year, before finalising the fee structure. Due to the increase in CNG price there will be an additional expenditure of` ` 2 lakhs per month which will have to be incurred on transport. Kindly appreciate that there is no control over this steep and sudden rise in the price of CNG. Therefore, we are left with no choice but to raise the transport fee.
Revised monthly transport fee w.e.f. 1/8/2010 will be as given in the Table below:-
Distance Existing Rates
in ` Revised rates w.e.f. 1/8/2010
Upto 5 k.m. 750   825
Upto 8 k.m. 805   885
Beyond 8 k.m. 930 1025

Kindly note that although the CNG prices have gone up by 26% the hike in Transport Fee is only to an extent of about 10% to minimize the burden on parents.

2. PREVENTIVE MEASURE TOWARDS DENGUE
I also wish to add that Delhi is in the grip of Dengue fever thus it would be advisable if students wear full sleaves shirts.
3 AUTUMN BREAK

THE SCHOOL WILL REMAIN OFF FOR STUDENTS FROM 1ST OCT TO 17TH OCT. 2010 ON ACCOUNT OF COMMONWEALTH GAMES/AUTUMN BREAK.

Dear Parent,

Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) has become effective from 1st of April, 2010. According to the new system each child has to opt for a minimum of two activities. Keeping the same in mind, following Clubs will function, on a regular basis, twice a week. You are requested to help your child, decide on any two activities based on his/her inclination/interest. Do keep in mind that the activity for which a child does not have an aptitude should not be forced upon him/her. We seek your cooperation in identifying their talent, so that they can actualize their true potential.

Late entries may have to compromise on the selection of activities/club. If a child selects sports activity he/she would participate only in one event in sports and in addition would have to opt for another club.
