Stress- just HYPE

Stress has been existing since ages but no doubt it has increased by leaps and bounds in the last few decades. The prime reason for the increase in the level of stress is the increased expectations of parents and hype created by the peer group and most importantly the media. The parents these days have less children to look after and hence, they want their children to be the best in every walk of life, in pursuit of perfection, the child’s aptitude is overlooked, which leads to failure and hence increased level of stress. One must also realize that stress is just in the mind and some stress is necessary for everyone, as it compels us to strive to do better. No doubt everyone wants the best, be it students or the corporate sector, and I don’t blame them for it, it is actually a world of specialization and we need to keep up with the pace of the society lest we lag behind.

The key lies in how we perceive stress and not how we perceive success. We need to manage time and even manage stress. As a matter of fact, I agree its tough with the amount of burden on students these days but yes success comes only to those who can stand apart. We need to be relaxed and calm in every situation; regularity is another golden rule to manage stress. Parents also must realize that comparisons are always odious and they need to be tolerant enough to let their child pursue his own dreams. Parents and teachers need to identify the child’s aptitude and help him to tread on his own path, with constant support and encouragement. In the end I just want to conclude by saying that society will keep on becoming more competitive day by day, the competition will become more intense and fierce, it is we who need to match up with its growing pace. It is the skill to manage stress which will help us in our pursuit for success in life.
